II Meeting of cooperation between projects for the reintroduction of the bearded vulture

The MITECO has hosted in Madrid the second meeting of the teams working on the reintroduction of the bearded vulture in Spain, which gives continuity to the cooperation project initiated by the FCQ in Gredos in October 2024.

This time it has been the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) the anfition of the event, in which have participated, in addition to the MITYECO and FCQ, the Vulture Conservation Foundation (VCF, based in Holland), the Government of Aragón, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Junta de Andalucía and the Junta de Castilla y León, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Junta de Andalucía and the Junta de Castilla y León, as well as members of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), veterinarians from the Fundación Aquila and veterinarians from the Instituto de Investigación en Recursos Cinegéticos (IREC-CSIC).

During the meeting, the achievements to date of the different teams were followed up, as well as the commitments made in the Gredos declaration, which includes the exchange of specimens between both projects. MITECO also gave an update on the future Iberian Strategy for the Conservation of the Bearded Vulture, which will see the light in the first half of 2025.
