Potes hosts the presentation ‘Bearded Vulture: from extinction to recovery in Cantabria’.

The Foundation for the Conservation of the Bearded Vulture (FCQ) invites the public to the conference ‘Bearded Vulture: from extinction to recovery in Cantabria’, to be held next Monday, July 14 at 10:30 am in the Center for Lebaniegos Studies, in Potes (Cantabria).
This public event, with free admission until full capacity is reached, is part of the LIFE Pro Bearded Vulture Project (LIFE20/NAT/ES/001363), co-financed by the European Union through Natura 2000, and has the participation of collaborating entities such as the Government of Cantabria, the Junta de Castilla y León, the Government of Aragón, the Principality of Asturias, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, among others.
During the conference, the advances in the recovery of the bearded vulture population in the Picos de Europa will be presented, as well as the relationship between the conservation of this emblematic species and extensive mountain livestock farming. In addition, updated data will be presented on the ProBiodiversity Mark, a seal that certifies livestock farming practices compatible with biodiversity conservation, and a pioneering wool valorization project will be presented together with local livestock farmers.
The meeting will also recognize the involvement of institutions, authorities, associations and the local population, which are fundamental to consolidate the viability of the species and to dynamize the territory. To close, a tasting of ProBiodiversity lamb will be offered as an example of a product linked to conservation and the rural economy.
