The same day of the release of the bearded vultures in Teruel, 3 bearded vultures were released in Picos de Europa.

The bearded vultures Nora, Bali and Ceferino were released on 28-6-2022 in the Picos de Europa National Park.

These are two females, “Nora and “Bali” and a male “Ceferino” ceded by the Government of Aragon in the framework of the Life pro Bearded Vulture project developed by the FCQ in close coordination with the environmental authorities of the Principality of Asturias.
The specimens have passed the different stages of their development in the facilities of the breeding center in Zaragoza (dependent on the Government of Aragon) and later in the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido (PNOMP). On June 1st they were transferred to Asturias and placed in the Picos de Europa National Park, where they have completed their learning process during the last few weeks. The evolution of the birds has been as expected, they have acclimatized to the environment and are now in ideal conditions to fly. Thus, today Tuesday, around 12:00 noon, FCQ technicians in the presence of representatives of Red Eléctrica Española (REE) and authorities of the National Park of Picos de Europa (PNPE) proceeded to the marking and release so that they can begin their life in freedom, as has been done in previous years with other birds. As a continuation of the work carried out since 2010, the Life Pro Bearded Vulture Project (LIFE20/NAT/ES/0001363) is being implemented as of 2022.
