LIFE Pro Bearded Vulture in FIO 2025

The LIFE Pro Bearded Vulture project has had a prominent presence at the International Ornithological Tourism Fair FIO 2025, with a stand and a conference in the main tent.
In this 20th edition of FIO there were 114 exhibitors and 18,984 visitors: on Saturday (8,135), Sunday (6,167) and Friday (4,682).
The FCQ stand was in the main tent and received a large number of visitors, many of whom were interested in the situation of the bearded vulture in the region. Gerardo Baguena, director of the project, gave a lecture on Saturday in the main tent, which was attended by 250 people. He explained the process of reintroduction of the species, its current situation in Picos de Europa and Gredos, and the importance of extensive sheep and goat farming for its conservation. In this sense, he explained the functioning of the pro Biodiversity brand, which has given value to the production of suckling pigs by the farmers of Picos de Europa, thus contributing to the maintenance of extensive mountain livestock farming, an activity in decline.
