Representatives of the Portuguese Institute for the Conservation of Forests (ICNF) at the presentation of LIFE project

The presentation of the LIFE Iberian Bearded Vulture Corridors project was attended by Sandra Sarmento, General Director of ICNF in Northern Portugal, the region that seems most likely to receive vagrant bearded vultures from Spain.

Prior to the presentation of the project, ICNF representatives had a first contact with representatives of MITECO, since one of the objectives of the LIFE project, under the responsibility of MITECO, is to update the current bearded vulture conservation strategy to promote the recovery of this species in its former range and the connectivity of its populations. Given that the number of young dispersers arriving in Portugal has increased in recent years, the approval of an Iberian strategy will be promoted, as has already been done for the imperial eagle.
